The Patient Health Questionnaire 2 and 9 (PHQ-2; PHQ-9) provide quick and effective ways to screen for depression in older adults. They can be used in a variety of settings such as primary care, home care, residential facilities, nursing homes, mental health clinics, and social service settings. This two-hour course teaches how to administer, score, and interpret the PHQ-2 and PHQ-9 with older adults. The course also includes instruction on assessing and responding to levels of suicide risk if suicidal ideation is identified on the PHQ-9.
